The Motability Scheme provides a simple way to enjoy a new car without the worry of owning and running one. Today, around 600,000 disabled people and their families benefit from the worry-free mobility available throughout the Scheme.
As an accredited Motability dealer, Harratts can offer a variety of schemes to enable disabled people to become mobile. If you receive the Higher Rate Motability Component of the Disability Living Allowance or the War Pensioners’ Motability Supplement, obtaining your new or used car is even easier and more affordable than ever. Through Motability, you simply turn part or all of your allowance into the car of your choice.
At Harratts we like to give you the opportunity to test drive your chosen vehicle as we understand that taking a quick trip round the block may not be enough. For this reason, Harratts offer a comprehensive test drive so you can be sure about your purchase. Here are a few things you may wish to check on your test drive:
Getting in and out of the car can sometimes be a struggle and often has a big impact on how suitable the vehicle is to your needs; this is why we encourage our customers to try getting in and out of the vehicle several times whilst in the dealership.
The Motability Scheme enables disabled people to use their government-funded mobility allowance to lease a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair. In fact, since the Scheme was set up in 1978, Motability has helped over 3 million people get mobile with a brand new vehicle. You simply exchange all or part of your mobility allowance to lease a vehicle of your choice. After three years, either hand back your car, or if you’d like to stay on the Motability Scheme, you can choose to lease a new vehicle for another three years.
There are currently over 600,000 people enjoying the benefits of Motability. The following items are included in our worry-free package:
• A brand new car every three years • Insurance, servicing and maintenance • Full breakdown assistance • Replacement tyres • Windscreen repair or replacement • 60,000 mileage allowance over three years for cars; 100,000 for WAVs • Many adaptations at no extra cost • Two named drivers for your car
Harratts have your motoring experience at the heart of everything they do. On almost all Harratts group vehicles you will find features that will make driving and travelling easier and more comfortable, such as automatic transmission, push button ignition and height adjustable seating position.
However, Harratts understands that you may require adaptations to make your New Car safer and more suited to your needs. Many of the most popular adaptations are now available at no extra cost at the start of your contract hire lease. Some adaptations will require an extra cost in addition to your Advance Payment. The Motability Managed Adaptations Programme is always there to oversee the adaptations process and ensure all work is carried out by an approved installer.
If you are awarded the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of PIP you may be eligible to join the Motability Scheme. If you have 12 months or more remaining on your current allowance then you can apply to lease a car, Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), scooter or powered wheelchair.
Apart from fuel, everything else you need is provided as part of the leasing package. You’ll be fully insured. If you choose to lease a car or WAV, you can name two drivers on your insurance so you can still enjoy worry-free motoring even if you don’t drive.
• Full breakdown assistance is included • All servicing, maintenance and repairs are covered, so there are no unexpected repair bills.
